What to Avoid the Week of Your Wedding

Picture
❌What to Avoid The Week of your Wedding❌

You’re excited that your wedding week is finally here! This makes so many brides jump in and try a new facial or waxing studio, but I would highly recommend against this. The best rule of thumb is to avoid anything new the weeks leading up to your wedding. Here are some things I suggest avoiding the week of your wedding:

  1. It’s not the time to try a new skincare routine or facial. If you are someone that routinely gets facials then feel free to keep up your facials, but don’t try anything you haven’t done before. Facials can cause your skin to purge, especially if you don’t have them often, this can leave you with unwanted breakouts for your wedding. I tell all my brides to start a great skincare and facial routine a year out from the wedding. This lets your skin acclimate to the products, and you know what works and what doesn’t.

  1. If you’re getting your brows waxed, be sure to go to someone you trust and have been to before. Every wax studio uses different kinds of wax, this can lead ti breakouts, lifted skin or even burns. Stay with your trusted wax studio, and I suggest getting waxed 7-10 days before your wedding.

  1. Discontinue use of retinols at least 10 days before you’re big day! You don’t want your skin peeling off. Even if you’re someone that has been using retinols for years, your skin can still go through shed periods. When your skin is shedding and peeling this makes it very difficult for your makeup artist to do their job, I see this issue so many times. It’s best to put the retinol away about 2 weeks prior to the wedding.

  1. Avoid trying out a spray tan the week of the wedding. Spray tans are my favorite way to get that immediate glow, but trying one for the first time the week of your wedding is never a good idea. I suggest to my brides to schedule a trial at least a month before the big day. This way you can test out the color and see what day you like it the best. Schedule your tan with a certified and licensed professional that knows how to custom blend the perfect color for your skin tone.

  1. Avoid a new hair color or cut the weeks leading up to your wedding. You may not be happy with the new style and you’re not going to have time to grow it out or fix it. Stick with what you normally would do at the salon, it’s not the time to try anything new.

Everyone gets excited the week of their wedding, but keep your beauty routine simple and as aligned with what you would normally do, and you won’t have to deal with the wedding day breakouts.
